Portfolio 4 – Music Video Set Design

Bandleader and musical director, Wayne Bruce, contacted me to bring the vision of this set to life.  The band, Spur of the Moment,  was recording a video for their hit song “Between Me and You” featuring Maimouna Youssef and Jon Rich.  My job was to prepare the set for what would be Maimouna’s domicile in the video.

If you are familiar with Maimounia Youssef (aka Mumu Fresh), you know her funky, afro-bohemian style with signature red hair.  I was up for the challenge as my personal style is very similar so I was able to purchase some of the key pieces and fill in the gaps with accents from my personal collection.  For the artwork, I was able to work with a talented visual artist, Malandela Zulu, to bring this afro-chic, bohemian haven to life.

Spur of the Moment Band has been together for over 30 years serving the DC area!  They have also played behind national recording artists such as Maysa, Will Downing and has been the house band for the Capital Jazz SuperCruise for over 15 years.  They are also the tribute band that performed at the Capital Jazz Fest for the past six years.
